Apollo
Apollo (Ray Summers) is the Amalgam of Marvel Comics' Cyclops and DC Comics The Ray.
History[]
Ray Summers's parents had anti-metamutant beliefs, and kept him (and his brother Josh) home until he was a teenager, telling him that sunlight would kill him. In reality, it made him stronger as his metamutant gene manifested, allowing him to direct the internalized sunlight through his eyes. Apollo followed Mister X when he formed the JLX from the metamutant members of the Judgement League Avengers and aided him on his quest to find Aqua Mariner's lost home of Atlantis, a long-lost mutant safe haven.
During his tenure with the JLX, Apollo fell in love with Firebird until she fell into a coma, during which he formed a short-lived relationship with Red Queen. This affair ended in tragedy when the Red Queen was killed by the White Queen in Alice Arcade's giant chess tournament.
Sometime after Firebird recovered from her coma, she and Apollo travel back in time to the Malformed West and encounter Ra's A-Pocalypse. This event will one day lead to the Age of Ra's A-Pocalypse. The couple would later encounter Generation Hex, during which Firebird discovered that Jono Hex was her ancestor.
The events surrounding the Armageddon Agenda and Firebird's transformation into Dark Firebird left Apollo in a catatonic comatose state. Barely able to control his autonomic functions, he snapped out of it when he used his solar radiation absorption powers on Fin Fang Flame. By to draw the power out of Fing Fang Flame, Apollo underwent a secondary mutation into a bright, glowing energy being.
