Blue Hornet (Eddie Reyes) is the Amalgam of Marvel Comics' Hornet and DC Comics' Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes).

History

Eddie Reyes was an high school student who was working for Hank Pym (formerly the hero Blue Jacket) as an assistant in his lab to improve his chances to get into college. They were studying a blue insect-shaped crystalline device that Hank had found at the crash site of an alien ship. The scanning devices caused the crystal to suddenly release a wave of energy that short-circuited every device in the lab and caused many small explosions. When the smoke cleared, Eddie was suddenly clad in alien blue armor. The crystal was in reality an alien weapon that was now permanently bonded to Eddie. With Hank's help in controlling the armor and its alien powers, Eddie became the Blue Hornet.

Powers

His alien armor gives Blue Hornet superhuman strength, near-invulnerability, and the ability to see in any wavelength of the electromagnetic spectrum. He can fly via the winged jet pack on his back and his gauntlets are armed with an array of electrical energy blasters and sonic projectors. When not in use the armor transforms into a small armband on Eddie's wrist that resembles a hi-tech wristwatch.
