Mariner Girl
Mariner Girl (Tula Smallwood) is the Amalgam of Marvel Comics' Marrina and DC Comics' Aquagirl.
History[]
Tula began her life as an egg from an aquatic alien race that had visited Earth. When fisherman Tom Smallwood found the egg, he gave it to his wife Gladys. The egg hatched and the embryo inside copied Gladys's DNA and became a humanoid infant. The Smallwood family adopted the infant and named her Tula. As a teenager, Tula saw Aqua Mariner and assumed that because she could also breathe underwater that she was an Atlantean like him. Creating a costume for herself, Tula became the Mariner Girl and tried to join Aqua Mariner as his partner. While she worked with Aqua Mariner, Mariner Girl found herself in love with Aqua Mariner's sidekick Torrent and the two became a couple.
However their romance was cut short when Mariner Girl's alien DNA took control and she transformed into a murderous sea monster and had to be destroyed by the Aqua Mariner who lured her into water tainted with toxic chemicals.
Powers[]
Mariner Girl had superhuman strength and could breathe underwater. When she was overly stressed she manifested fangs and claws due to her alien heritage.
Mariner Girl also possessed the power of hydrokinesis which gave her a limited ability to psychokinetically move and manipulate the water around her. She also possessed limited telepathy and could mentally communicate with sea creatures.
