Polarity

Polarity (Lorna Kane) is the Amalgam of Marvel Comics' Polaris and DC Comics' Magenta.

History[]

Lorna was the infant daughter of Magneto, who was placed with her adopted family, the Kanes, after Magneto became worried that his brother would harm her. At the age of seven, Lorna began manifesting metamutant magnetic powers like those of her father. She was mentored by Niles Cable and trained in the use of her powers.

As a teenager, Lorna began to use her powers as a superhero but was captured by her evil uncle, Will Magnus. Will brainwashed her, convincing her that Magneto had abandoned her because he hated her. She became Polarity and tried to kill her own father but was stopped by Niles. He telepathically reversed the brainwashing and connected Polarity's mind to her father's, allowing her to see the truth of his decision to give her away. The two reconciled and Polarity joined Niles new team, X-Patrol.

Powers[]

Like her father, Polarity also has the metamutant power to control magnetic fields. Unlike her father, her powers are based on geomagnetism as opposed to electromagnetism, meaning that Polarity pulls her power from the very magnetic fields of the Earth itself. She can use her magnetic powers to move, lift, and manipulate ferrous metals. She can also fire force blasts and create force fields by focusing her magnetic energies, and even fly via magnetic levitation.

Polarity is unrelated to Polaris, another Polaris-inspired amalgam and one of Dial H.U.S.K.'s alternate personas.
