Starwave
Starwave (Harold "Hal" Jordan) is the Amalgam of Marvel Comics' Star Brand and DC Comics' Airwave.
History[]
Hal Jordan was the cousin of Hal Stark. While working as a mechanic Hal was recruited into the Starbrand Corps by Uatu the Guardian. Given the Star Brand, Hal became Starbrand and used his powers to fight crime across the galaxy. But when Hal was framed for the murder of Sinestro he was stripped of his powers.
Unknown to Hal, Uatu had become insane and was the one who framed him. Uatu needed Hal out of the way so he could kill every member of the Star Brand Corps to "usher in a new universe". Hal was the last remaining loose end and was almost Uatu's victim. Speed Demon stopped Uatu before he could murder Hal, but then Speed Demon sensed that Hal had also committed crimes and killed him.
Hal's costume as a member of the Star Brand Corps
The Speed Demon's hellfire combined with the residual energy of the Star Brand in Hal's body. The fusion of energies created a matter-energy flux and Hal was reborn as a being of energy known as the Starwave. Even though the Star Brand Corps was gone, Starwave tried to carry on their mission.
Powers[]
As Starbrand, Hal could use the Star Brand mark to channel the power of Oa the Living Planet to fly and create objects out of solid energy.
As Starwave, Hal was able to transform into a being of living energy, able to manipulate almost any form of cosmic energy and fly at the speed of light.
